How do dancers improve/ get great leg extensions? Any exercises/ tips would be greatly appreciated!!?

Working on strength and a lot of practice. There’s an exercise that I used/still use today.

Find a place where your leg can rest, place the leg in back extension and place it on that place. Then work on lifting your leg off of that for a few seconds. Do that for a few days and keep working up a little higher.

Make sure you don’t push too hard only try to hold it for 4-8 seconds at a time.

I have quite afew excersises; you might have done them in class but if you do them just during the ad breaks of your fav tv show and soon you will have a perfect leg extention.
1)sit in a’le seconde splits and just breathe deep (this will let your muscles get oxygen which is what helps them stretch)
2)sit with both legs infron of you and grap onto your feet
    3)practise both legs of splits
4)practise baloancing on one foot for a very lng time!!!
do this every day and i guarentee you will be the best in the class!

Aside from stretching as much as you can, you need to strengthen your core because you use your abdominal muscles to hold the leg up, not just leg muscles. For leg extensions to the sides, focus on strengthening your obliques (those are the muscles on the sides of your abs). As you extend your leg, think of hardening your abs or squeezing your obliques as hard as you can.

you can strengthen these muscles through pilates or just plain crunches.
