like they say, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. if you are recieving emails, postal letters, things of that nature, you are just one of the millions that this industry tries to contact, including myself.
there are some legitimate ones, however, you should contact your local BBB to find out which ones are worth following up on. good luck

Most job offers are a deception or outright scam, avoiding making any form of payment for work will eliminate the majority of scammes.
Busywork sites doing surveys, pay to surf-click don’t really pay too well and might deliver your contact info to spam marketers.
Freelance contractor bid sites where programmers pick up work also have some writer jobs, most of which are simple short articles for web sites.
