Does it annoy you when people have the mentality that it’s easy to be a stay at home mom and it’s not WORK?

My brother whom is not a parent made a comment to me he said " Oh stop complaining you don’t work how tired could you be "

I have an infant and a preschooler home with me and I think it is easier to work full time then to be a stay at home mom. I am up at 6 am everyday (not just work days) running around all day between the kids, breastfeeding the errands the house work the cleaning and cooking baths feeding . It’s a 24 hour job you don’t get to clock in and out I’m beat. Do people really think it’s easy ?
well his wife is pregnant so let him see just how easy it is to get up every 3 hours when he’s tired
Some People who don’t have young kids have NO CLUE how much of a JOB being a parent REALLY is

I AGREE!@! My husband thinks my job is sooo easy i dont think he could last a day lol. I am also a stay at home mom i have a 5yr old step daughter a 5 yr old son, a 1.5 yr old son AND a two month old at home. He dosnt think that its hard to chase after the kids, clean, breastfeed, and do ALL the doc appointments and even school.!!! I agree it totally annoys me when people think that stay at home moms dont have a 24/7 Job, But i have to say no matter what people think we have the BEST PAY EVER… The most time spent with our babies!! Keep up the good work!!

I agree with you. Mothers never get the well-deserved break that they need. Of course a man wouldn’t understand, unless they were a single stay-at-home father. Men don’t grasp the concept that children are hard to take care of, let alone more than one of them. Men will be men, and you can’t change their thinking ways, but you could challenge him to stay home with them for once, and to let you go out all day.

I suppose these people are only looking at the advantages, and overlooking the actual work you do at home.

And there ARE advantages. For one, you get to spend more time with your kids, (Which I believe is important… until they hit puberty – then give them space!)

Also I assume your home is a more comfortable environment than the workplace. You are effectively your own boss. I hear so many people (men and women) who complain about their jobs. The grass is always greener, it seems.

I think what is annoying is the fact that people have such strong opinions about what other people do with their life, especially parenting, and they act as if they know what goes on with you in your everyday. It’s very annoying that he thinks your job isn’t hard, but don’t even waste your time talking to him about it. Just take a day to yourself and have him watch the kids for you all day (tell him to consider it a favor towards you). I’m a working mom and get home by 5:15, but even when I’m home with my little one after work, it’s tough and my day doesn’t end until midnight or 1 (run errands, play with her, feed/bathe/read/bed, clean bottles, cook dinner, clean up, lots of laundry, prepare for the next day, pay bills, still haven’t done a thing for myself yet before 11, and up at 5am to do it all over again). It’s just tough being a mom period, but also EXTREMELY rewarding 🙂
