Anything that works the legs will firm them.
-Walking & Running (Show me a runner with sloppy legs.) Make sure you do both sprints & longer distances.
-Ride bike (with a lot of resistance, if possible, or in a gear that’s hard to peddle).
-Clmb stars (2 at a time if you can)
-squats
-Leg curls & extensions (Be careful with extensions if your nees sometimes hurt. Don’t bend more than 90 degrees.)
-Calf raises
One thing though. "Firm up" may mean that you have too much fat on your legs. There’s no such thing as "spot fat reduction." However, since the legs are your largest muscles in the body, it’s good to use them to loose fat and get your metabolism up.

measure your thighs and post it because you might not need to tone them

I was able to really firm up and trim down my butt and thighs by walking. I worked my way up to a 2 mile walk with 3 big hills in it about 5 times a week. The uphill parts really work the glutes as well as the quads. Stairs are also good, especially for the quads. Good luck!

either get on a eliptical or a go run on a tredmill or just around the block. nothing is really quick and easy.

Walking is the very BEST. Start off slow and build up to 4 miles.

Lunges are an excellent way to shape legs and define muscles. However if fat loss is an overall goal, dieting is the worst way to try to shed weight. Consider walking or running, as these activities not only strengthen and tone major muscle groups in the entire body, but help improve your cardio-vascular health as well. Fad diets don’t work, and in many cases will bring the morale down of those who use them, causing them to gain even more weight when they get off the diet. Try cutting out a few servings of carbs per day, but not entirely. Try dropping some sugar intake and replacing it with an artificial sweetener. Try doing thirty minutes of cardio or more for toning and fat loss. After a good aerobic (cardio) workout, go for an anaerobic workout and lift weights. Lifting weights after running is more effective at burning fat calories because your body is working on reserve fuel. Great workouts for toning legs are squats, calve raises, and leg extensions. Remember, eat more of what nature gave you (fruit, veggies, nuts, lean meats) more frequently, with regular exercise, and you will successfully build a lean body.

I highly recommend playing roller derby, or even just roller or ice skating. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had while exercising, and it does incredible things for your legs. It’s not as hard on your knees as lunges or running.

Thanks! I am taking a trip to CA. I lost 100 lbs years ago and my legs move without me now. This information really helps. Thanks!
